Career and technical students will compete in 80 different skill and leadership competitions. This 2-day event is a showcase for our business and industry partnership programs. As a result, over 130 students will qualify to compete at the national SkillsUSA Championships in June. The philosophy of the Championships is to reward students for excellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employers' needs.
This year's State Championship will take place May 2-3 at the Garden State Exhibit Center. The opening ceremony will be held at the Somerset Crown Plaza on May 2. Contests will be held throughout the day on May 3 at the Exhibit Center and at the various hotels in the area. Visitors are welcome to see the competitors in action. The conference will conclude on May 3 with the awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
For more information or if you are interested in volunteering during the conference, please contact State Director Peter Carey at pcarey@scettc.org or (908) 526-8900, ext. 7231
