Auto Maintenance Light Repair is Canceled
The Auto Maintenance Light Repair competition has been dropped for the 2022 state championships and will not take place.
Auto Contest Info for March 31 at the Mercedes Benz Learning Center, Robbinsville
Below is the latest Covid information regarding student participation at the Mercedes-Benz USA Learning & Performance Center facility.
All visitors will be required to check-in at the entrance reception area for Covid verification.
Entry into the facility is only allowed with the following
Fully vaccinated status (1 Johnson & Johnson, 2 Moderna or 2 Pfizer shots). Proof of vaccination is required. Visitors must present vaccination card or a photo of the vaccination card.
Negative Covid Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test within 72 hours of entry into the facility. Test results must be presented via a printed copy or displayed within phone app or photo. The individual’s name, test results and testing date must be visible/presented.
If PCR test was completed but results are not yet available, a rapid test may be performed at the MBUSA facility that morning. Proof that a PCR test has been taken and results are pending will need to be provided.
Masks must be worn at all times within the MBUSA facility.
New Advisor Training in January
The national staff is hosting a New Advisor Training on January 21, from 9AM to 1:30PM. This Professional Development opportunity is built intentionally for advisors in their first, second or third year. It is suggested that participants secure adequate classroom coverage. Participants must be Professional Members to register through Absorb. The document on how to enroll for the training is copied here:

All SkillsUSA dues paying members can enter the National Pin and T-Shirt Design Contest
Be sure to give your students the info below on entering the National Conference Pin and T-shirt Design Challenge. This challenge is open to all registered SkillsUSA student members who are enrolled in a career and technical education program at a high school or college/postsecondary institution with an active SkillsUSA chapter. Membership for the 2021-22 school year will be verified by the national headquarters (the name must appear on a roster for this school year). Limit one entry per SkillsUSA Member. Students may submit an entry to this national challenge in addition to competing in any of our state events.

Take Up the Challenge! National Conference Pin and T-shirt Design
SkillsUSA is once again sponsoring the 2022 National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) Pin and T-shirt Design Challenge to all dues-paying student members of the organization. The winning designs will become the official T-shirt and pin design for the 2022 NLSC. The challenge opens Jan. 15, entries must be received by March 15 at 12 a.m. ET, and the winners will be announced on March 21. Rules and submission links will be posted on the SkillsUSA website by Jan. 15.
Professional Development Opportunities for January
Please join your fellow advisors for our January SkillsUSA Professional Development sessions. Topics include “Chapter Excellence Program for New Advisors,” “Best Practices: Community Service” and “Guides for Hosting a Local Career Competition.” We will also host a “New Advisor Training” session on Jan. 21. Criminal Justice Expertise on “SkillsUSA Technical Fridays”
Join us for “SkillsUSA Technical Fridays,” SkillsUSA’s industry-led workshops that help teachers develop specific technical skills relevant to their career fields. On Jan. 21 from 4-5 p.m. ET, the presenter is Tim Hart, a retired police officer from California who also served with the U.S. State Department training police in Afghanistan and Iraq. His session will focus on the basic principles and techniques of arrest and control, gun takeaway as well as self-defense tactics. Professional development certificates are available for attending. The cost to attend the session is $10. Register here.
Chapter Excellence Program Opportunity
SkillsUSA offers all advisors and chapters the opportunity to schedule a one-on-one coaching session with Kelli Engelbrecht, our Chapter Excellence Program (CEP) and Program of Work coach. The one-on-one coaching session can assist your chapter in strategizing how to take your CEP application to the next level or help a new chapter or advisor get started. Learn how to effectively integrate the SkillsUSA Framework, articulate SMART goals and select and evaluate Essential Elements within the CEP application.
