FRIDAY FLASH-Conference Edition, April 12, 2019

Final Reminders!

Here are some changes that you should be aware of for the April 13 SkillsUSA Championships:

New Contestant Registration Procedures

Contest registration takes place at the students' contest site, NOT at a centralized location as we have done in the past. The process is the same as registration at the previous off site contests. Upon arrival at each venue, you will see registration tables where students pick up their ID badges and turn in two items, resume and Code of Conduct.  Those forms will be maintained by the Site Coordinator at each contest site.  The resume will be used as a tie breaker if necessary, and the Code of Conduct Form will be used for the family contact information in the event of an emergency.

Tool Boxes

The SkillsUSA shuttle buses are not capable of transporting tool boxes for contests held at the Carpenters Apprenticeship Training Center in Edison. However, tool boxes may be dropped off in advance on Friday, April 12, up until 5:00 pm.

Observer Lunches

We have the names of your students who are not competing but will need lunch coupons.  Lunches will be provided at Somerset County Vo-Tech for observers who identify themselves to the Site Coordinator, Teresa Morelli.

Advisor Lunches

All advisors have already received their lunch coupons which were distributed at the February 6th advisors meeting. The lunches will be available at the Bridgewater Marriott starting at 11:00 am.  If you prefer to stay at Somerset County Vo-Tech, we will make arrangements to pick up your lunch from the Marriott provided you identify yourself by 11:00 AM to Jim Argondizzo, Assistant Site Coordinator, or Teresa Morelli, Site Coordinator.

Awards Ceremony Seating

The seating chart for the Bridgewater Raritan High School gymnasium has basically stayed the same, except we have had to shift Salem County's location.  As far as some of the smaller comprehensive high school chapters, the seating chart directs these schools to sit in the same section as their county vocational district. For schools that sit on the side of the stage without a clear site line to the video screens, there will be flat screen monitors aimed at their seats from the sides of the stage. (Awards Seating chart available in DOWNLOADS on website)

Shuttle Bus Update

There will be a shuttle bus departing for the construction cluster competitions at the Carpenters Apprentice Training Center in Edison on the hour starting at 10 am until 1 pm.
