To test the knowledge of a team of contestants preparing for employment in the cosmetology occupations field and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism.

Cosmetology Novice
To evaluate contestants' with less than 600 hours of training, skill, knowledge, and understanding of the Cosmetology
Profession.

Criminal Justice Quiz Bowl
To test the knowledge of selected team members on their academic knowledge in the areas of criminal law and criminal procedure; their familiarity with current events in criminal justice; and their knowledge of the SkillsUSA Leadership Handbook.

Custom Auto Painting
To evaluate each contestants’ preparation for employment and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the art of custom automotive painting

To evaluate each contestant’s preparation for employment and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the field of cosmetology

MRE Culinary Challenge
A team of 3 students work together to demonstrate their culinary knowledge and skills to create an appetizer, entre, dessert and 12oz. beverage from a military issue MRE. Contest details edited 1/30.

Ornamental Iron Design
The purpose of this contest is to evaluate student's preparation for employment and to recognize excellence and professionalism in the art of ornamental iron design and fabrication.

Performing Arts
The purpose of this contest is to evaluate each team’s critical thinking, analysis, communications, writing, marketing and performance knowledge and skills as they relate to the field of theatre and the performing arts. There can be up to two teams per school. Each team must register 5 students but can compete with 3 or 4 students with no penalty. Edited Feb. 03

Safety Display
To give one SkillsUSA member an opportunity to depict some aspect of their career training safety instruction in a compact format, using a model, illustration, step-by-step depiction, or other descriptive portrayal.

State Banner Design
To give a team of two SkillsUSA members an opportunity to design and produce a New Jersey SkillsUSA banner.

Team Skills Demo
To evaluate a team of contestants’ ability to demonstrate and explain an entry-level skill used in the occupational areas for which they are training

Technology Display
To evaluate each team’s understanding of basic principles of applied technology and/or science within the students’ career major through the evaluation of a display and presentation
